![]() ![]() Dotemu's porting work never accounted for frame rate adjustment and even with updates the game still doesn't run as it should / as intended too this very day. However the disastrous PC port makes the game run faster than its intended refresh rates being a constant 60hz which has the unfortunate side effect of making some enemy bullet fire faster than a human player can possibly react to. On Arcade Hardware the game is supposed to run at 54Hz to 57hz and has fluxuations based on the amount of enemy fire and enemy ships on screen, such is the case with various Arcade titles at odd refresh rates. This is evident in almost every major release be it from Cave, Toaplan, Eighting / Raizing, Compile, Konami, Irem and so forth. This is a trait of the genre itself in entirety and not because of devs overlooking how well the game runs. Keep in mind a lot of shmups have intentional slowdown as part of their design and not because a case of bad performance. Well the specific game I was testing was one of those except it melted not one but TWO of the GTX Titans we had in the office cause it was never designed to be run on a GPU that strong.īut like in that Ubisoft case, sometimes devs think "No one will run into this anyways" and release just the same. ![]() One of my favorite bugs ever was a game I worked on that ran at max frame rate at all times, which sure would be taxing and make a computer run at nuclear temps but some devs just like that. Now whether the version that released is beloved or not? My own personal overview of the situation was that it remained polarizing for some, but not nearly as many as it was while it was in dev. So they absolute got feedback multiple times while it was in dev about how problematic and unfun it was, which is what the question posed was. They also know it was a polarizing experience and it controlled like it was in mud while they were developing it and made it handle better.Ĭertain missions in the game such as defending GCPD made one want to gauge their eyes out. Only said they knew how wonky it was in development because it WAS wonky in development. Huh? I never really made much comment on the final thing.
